Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email message when needed to answer it. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Device IP address
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show broad use patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this traffic data for us. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the selected search provider
- Maintaining speed, reliability, and site operation
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Pleasants County material here explains how to reach the courts, arresting agencies, West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau, WVDCR, and West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to data submitted through its tool. Review those terms before entering a query because we do not control the partner's processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to courts, the Pleasants County Sheriff, West Virginia agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. We will remove such data when we learn it was provided by a minor.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. The West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code chapter 29B, governs public-body records and does not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Object to certain processing where a right to do so applies
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. An updated version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
Effective date: August 11, 2026
