Why We Built This Site
West Virginia record access is spread across offices with different duties. In Pleasants County, an arresting agency keeps its report, WVDCR records regional-jail custody, Magistrate Court holds early proceedings and misdemeanors, and the Circuit Clerk keeps felony files. WVSP CIB maintains fingerprint-linked state history, while the state police registry publishes only the information required by the Sex Offender Registration Act. We bring the verified contacts, official search paths, known fees, and request steps together while keeping those boundaries clear.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: where to reach the Pleasants County Sheriff, court clerks, and statewide custodians
- Official check steps: how fingerprint-based personal review works through WVSP CIB
- Record guides: how criminal court case records are found and read in Pleasants County
- Record relief: where West Virginia expungement petitions begin and which statutes govern them
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of any West Virginia court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Our role has firm limits:
- We do not issue certified court files, criminal histories, or police reports
- We cannot submit expungement petitions or public-record requests for a reader
- We do not run official background checks or retrieve a person's record
- We cannot interpret a charge or offer case-specific legal advice
- We cannot promise that an office's address, hours, fee, or phone has not changed
An official copy must come from the office that maintains it, such as the Pleasants County court, the arresting agency, WVDCR, or WVSP CIB.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are supplied by outside providers. Those providers control their services, results, and prices. If a visitor follows a tool to a paid service, we may receive a referral fee that supports free access to this reference. We do not set the provider's charges or determine the information it returns.
